Living Portrait Master Competition :

** South African Portrait Society hosts an annual Art Competition where the top portrait artists in South Africa gets a chance to compete on National Level.

** This is open to any artist currently living and working in South Africa, independent of Nationality.
** Artists must be 18 years and older, students are welcome to apply.

Selection Period: 1 November 2016 – 31 March 2017

How to Enter :
** Submission Fee is R200 per artwork.
** Max 2 Artworks may be submitted.
** SA Portrait Society Members can submit 2 Artworks for free. (T&C’s Apply)
** All artworks must be submitted online.

How to Submit :
** Register to participate in the competition, by filling in the form below.
** We will send you an invoice (If applicable) to pay any outstanding submission fees.
** Send us a proof of payment (If applicable). Along with the artworks that you would like to submit.

Note :
** Members of our Society may enter two artworks for free.
** If you are not a member of our VIP Group (First 50 Applicants) your membership fees must be paid in full, to get the “free artwork submission” benefit.

Image Submission Rules :
** Images must be in JPEG Format and under 1MB each

Following Details must accompany all submitted images :
** Artist’s Name
** Email & Contact Number
** Artwork’s Detail – Title, Medium, Size, Year, Price (Optional)

Remember :
** Images & Proof of Payment must be submitted between Tuesday, 1 November 2016 and Friday, 31 March 2017.
** No Late Submissions will be accepted.

Procedure :
** The Top 50 Pre-Selected Artworks will feature (as they are submitted) on our Facebook Page.
** As new artworks are submitted – the Top 50 Artworks might change regularly.
** The Top 20 Living Portrait Masters will be announced on 30 April 2017
** We will contact them directly so that they can provide all the necessary details and artworks to feature on our website and other platforms.

What will the judges look for?
** Certain Level of Realism
** High Technical Skill
** Esthetic Worth
** Degree of Difficulty
** Originality or Creative Use of Traditional Media

What do the winners get?
** Feature on our Website, Facebook Page and other Social Media Platforms for the whole year
** A full page dedicated to each artist, which includes an Art Gallery (15 Artworks), Artist CV, Artist Statement, Exhibitions, Awards and Full Contact Details

Rules :
Acceptable Media :
** Any traditional Art Mediums such as paintings, drawings, printmaking, sculpture etc.

Media not allowed :
** Photography, Digital Manipulated Images, or New Media (Performance Art, Videos, Installations etc)
** Participants must be 18years and older
** No Late Submissions are allowed.

** You must enter within the allocated time period from 1 November 2016 – 31 March 2017
** Submission is R200 per artwork for Non-Society Members, maximum of 2 Artworks allowed
** Members of SA Portrait Society may submit 2 artworks for free.
** Rule of Maximum 2 Artworks still apply

** All artworks must be the artist’s own.
** If you make use of any photographer’s work as reference material – you must get their full permission and supply credit info with your submissions (such as Photographer’s name, link to website/facebook page etc).
** Failure to comply with this rule will lead to immediate disqualification.
