New Now Next 2016 Competition :

** The New Now Next 2016 Visual Arts competition, presented by Galerie Noko in partnership with the Summerstrand Hotel, is conceptualized to discover, create pathways/platform and support emerging contemporary artists.

** This initiative is open to artists between the ages of 18 – 34 years residing in South Africa.
** This year the competition and award is bigger.

** The First prize is The Hartmann Prize of R25 000 cash sponsored by the Summerstrand Hotel and an artist residency, while the second and third place winners will each win a two Month artists’ residency and mentorship from Galerie Noko.
** Participating artists must submit a minimum of three and a maximum of six original artworks (please see entry Form for rules) which have not previously been exhibited.
** The deadline for artwork submission is 3 December 2016.

** The New Now Next 2016 exhibition will be open to the public from 14 December 2016 at Galerie Noko in 109 -111 Russel Road, Richmond Hill, Port Elizabeth.

Who Can Enter :
** Emerging artists residing in South Africa between the ages of 18 and 34.

How To Enter :
** Artists need to submit between three to six artworks which must be delivered to Galerie NOKO, 109 – 111 Russell Road, Richmond Hill, Port Elizabeth.

What May Be Entered :
** Any original artwork, in any media, which has not been previously exhibited.
** There are no restrictions other than the artworks must not physically endanger anyone. (Please refer to bullet point No 4 under the ‘Please Note’ section) .

Adjudication Team :
** This team will be constituted to provide all artists a sympathetic hearing, bearing in mind the diversity of work that the exhibition seeks to encourage.
** There will be three independent judges for the NEWNOWNEXT EASTERN CAPE 2016 artists’ competition.
** Every entry is judged based on creative merit and technical excellence.
** The panel of judges will select three artworks from the entries for the first, second and third prize winners.

Award/Prizes :
** Three award winners will receive support towards career development opportunities.
** 1st Prize – Artist Residency and twenty five thousand rand (R25,000. 00 cash prize) – The Hartmann Award. Sponsored by Summerstrand Hotel.
** 2nd Prize – 2 months artist residency
** 3rd Prize – Mentorship

The Exhibition :
** The exhibition will be open to the public on 14 December 2016 at Galerie NOKO in Port Elizabeth.

Deadlines :
** Exhibition ready artworks must be submitted to Galerie NOKO before 3 December 2016.

Please note :
** Artworks must not be signed by the artist.
** Please take time to read the brief carefully as it’s important to consider our diverse audience.
** Do not send us a card design. Our aim is to discover emerging artists with something fresh and original to say.
** Ensure that your entry/entries belongs to one or more of the following categories – Photoraphy/Digital Media, Painting/Illustration or 3D.

** We reserve the right to leave out works based on availability of space, offensive content and or quality.
** All works must be mounted or framed and ready to hang.
** No works may be removed from the exhibition before its closing.
** Any submission that does not meet these criteria will not be considered.
** Winning artists will be required to start the Residency or Mentorship program in February 2017.
