About the job :
** The CSIR has a vacancy for a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer in the Command Control and Information Warfare (CCIW) competence area within the Defence Peace Safety and Security (DPSS) unit.

** The incumbent will apply an interdisciplinary approach and means to enable the realisation of successful systems engineering principles. This position is based in Pretoria.

Key responsibilities :
** Execute sub-system project plans;
** Execute security architecture plans and sub-system directives;
** Compile MoE’s and MoPs for technical solutions using a SE approach;
** Interpret already defined client requirements and compile user requirements specifications (URS);
** Interpret URS requirements and compile sub-system requirements specifications;
** Interpret defined level sub-system requirements for implementation;
** Interpret and write Operational Concept Descriptions (OCDs)for SOCs;
** Conduct design reviews of appropriate level sub-system, hardware and software;
** Assist with requirements definition for SOC’s, CONOPS definition, and conceptualisation of the optimum solutions;
** Apply the appropriate SE know-how, at the correct life-cycle stage and system hierarchal level to comply to higher-level project requirements;
** Assists in audits through the development life-cycle to verify compliance.

Qualifications, skills and experience :
** A Master’s Degree in computer science or equivalent with at least fifteen years’ experience in the cyber or defence environment of which ten years’ experience should be in cybersecurity design and development;
** A completed short course(s) in systems engineering and requirements analysis will be advantageous;
** Experience with systems engineering tools such as SparksEA and Archimate will be advantageous;
** Participation in the execution of product field trials to clients within an operational scenario;
** Knowledge of COBIT 5 would be an advantage;

Skills in the following is a requirement :
** Requirement analysis;
** Interface definition;
** Use of modelling tools;

** Knowledge of commonly used systems engineering international standards such as ISO27001 and ISO27035;
** Project Management Experience
** Willingness to mentor juniors;
** Open to performing business development and client liaison.
