Director – Health & Community Services :

** The incumbent shall be reporting to the Municipal Manager and shall have to provide strategic leadership in Municipal Health Services, Environmental Management, Disaster Management, Fire Services, Special Programs, ensuring that the municipality achieves its objective through these units and the department as a whole.

Minimum requirements :
** Matric
** A relevant B. Tech Degree in Environmental Health and /or relevant qualification at NQF level 7.
** A post graduate qualification in the above field will be an added advantage.

** A minimum of ten (10) years or more work related experience of which seven (7) years to be at senior management level.
** Valid Driver’s License

** Valid registration as an Environmental Health Practitioner with Health Professional Council of South Africa (Proof of paid up registration),
** Attainment of required minimum competencies for Senior Managers in terms of Government Gazette No 29967 on Munimum Competencies will be an added advantage.

Competencies Required :
** Critical competencies that drive the strategic intent and direction.
** Core competencies that drive the execution of critical competencies
** Working in a team to advise Council & Committees.

Key Performance Areas (include but not limited to) :
** Direct overall development and implementation of key strategies to ensure effective functionality of the Directorate;

** Plans and directs the key performance areas and result indicators associated with the provision of an efficient Environmental Health and Environmental Management service in the District (including Air Quality Monitoring and Renewable Energy).

** Provide strategic direction on institutional Disaster Management and fire services functionality within the District.

** Manage the coordination of HIV & Aids.
** Provide support to local municipalities in areas of the Directorate;
** Manages and ensure co-ordination and implementation of departmental programmes in line with the IDP and budget
