NRF Scholarships For Msc AT UKZN
NRF scholarships available for MSc at UKZN :
** A research collaboration between University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) and South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) has made available a postgraduate scholarship to a South African student studying full time towards a Masters degree.

** Indigenous Knowledge provides the basis for problem-solving strategies for local communities, especially the poor. IK is an underutilized resource in the development process of Africa. Learning from what local communities already know creates an understanding of local conditions and provides an important context for activities designed to help them.
Topics
The research project will focus on indigenous knowledge related to poisonous plants.
The prospective student should therefore have a research interest and/or experience in one or more of the following topics :
** Traditional Medicines
** Indigenous Knowledge
** Biodiversity
** Ethnobotany
** Ecotoxicology
** Taxonomy
Added advantages include :
** fluency in English and isiZulu
** experience in social science
Scholarship Amount
** There is one Masters scholarship at R60 000 (per annum) available to a high caliber student starting in January 2018.
** The tenure of the scholarship shall be two years, subject to submission and evaluation of an Annual Progress Report.

** The student will need to be registered at the School of Life Sciences, UKZN (Westville campus) and will be supervised by Prof H. Baijnath and Dr R. Street.
