Agricultural Food & Quarantine Technician :
Requirements :
** Applicant must be in possession of a National Diploma or Bachelor degree in Agriculture with Plant Pathology/ Entomology/ Plant Production/Protection/ Agronomy/ Botany/ Horticulture or Microbiology as a major subject(s) (you are required to furnish a credit certificate and /or a statement of results).

** Must have sufficient technical experience with regard to the Agricultural Pests Act, 1983 (Act 36 0f 1983), Plant Improvement Act, 1976 (Act 53 of 1976) and other related legislation, international standards and agreements as well as the provision of World Trade Organization on the application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary measures (WTO-SPS), Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) and the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC).
** Good communication skills, Planning, Organising, problem solving, interpersonal relations, analytical skills and must able to work independently and in a team environment. Applicants must be prepared to work away from home /office on short notice, work irregular hours and overtime when required. Computer literacy in Ms Office software.
** Must be in possession of a valid driver’s licence and the ability to drive.
Duties :
** The successful candidate will be responsible on the application and enforcement of legislation and international agreements to ensure that sanitary and Phytosanitary status of plants and plant products comply with the relevant minimum requirement.
** Provide technical advice and guidance to stakeholders (internal and external).
** Conduct audit inspection of the assignees which includes sampling, testing, surveys, investigations, detections and enforcing the requirements of control measures. Perform administrative duties and supervision of staff.
