Candidates contesting Municipal By-Election on 26 April 2017 :
** One municipal ward by-election will take place in ward 2 in Dikgatlong Municipality (NC092) in the Northern Cape on Wednesday, 26 April 2017.

Five candidates will be contesting the by-election including two independent candidates :
** Ralph Xavier Africa an independent candidate
** Mently Mondrow Bezuidenhout an independent candidate
** Dipuo Loraine Mondzinger of the African National Congress
** Moshiwa Hendrik Matthews of the Democratic Alliance
** Liana Poulina Mankayi of the Economic Freedom Fighters
** In the 2016 Municipal Elections the ward was won by the African National Congress with 54.23% of votes cast.
** Voter turnout was 61.21%. The ward became vacant as a result of the death of the councillor.
** Voters are reminded that they must be registered in a voting district within the ward being contested in the by-election to be eligible to vote.
** Voters must provide identification (either a green bar-coded identity (ID) book, a smartcard ID or a valid Temporary ID Certificate).
** Registered voters can SMS their ID number to 32810 (cost is R1 per SMS) to check their voting station details, or can visit the ‘For Voters’ section at .elections.org.za.
** Voters who need more information on the by-elections should contact their Municipal Electoral Officer during office hours or visit the IEC website at elections.org.za.
