Description Of The Job:
** To purchase commodities for the De Beers Group in accordance with the requirements of the business, and in line with related policies and procedures.

** The successful incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that goods purchased meet stipulated specifications, are purchased from the right vendors, are of the right quality, quantities, and cost, and are delivered at the right time.

Key Performance Areas :
** Source goods for customers in line with technical, commercial and sustainability specifications
** Perform purchasing duties in line with the customers’ and the Company’s procurement policies and procedures
** Ensure that necessary approvals are in place for the purchase of goods in line with stipulated requirements
** Perform verifications to ensure that orders placed are accurate and complete

** Identify suitable sources of supply for goods purchased
** Improve spend with preferential suppliers, taking into account the customer’s jurisdictional requirements
** Place orders with identified suppliers, following stipulated procedures
** Expedite orders to ensure that deliveries meet promise dates
** Minimize lead time variances in line with customer needs
** Manage vendor performance

** Deliver savings
** Manage own buying process to ensure that delivery meets expectation
** Monitor own performance standards to facilitate the achievement of agreed objectives
** Build effective relationships with customers, suppliers and other internal stakeholders
** Participate in projects and initiatives as necessary

Minimum Requirements :
** Relevant Certificate/Diploma
** At least 3 years’ purchasing experience
** Experience in other Supply Chain functions will be an advantage
** SAP/Equivalent knowledge is a prerequisite
