What is George Municipality External Bursary?

The George Municipality acknowledges the importance of youth development and therefore invites the eligible local residents The study field for students shall be limited to Municipal (local government sector) and related study fields, however preference will be given to areas of scarce skills. The closing date of application is 08th October 2024.

Who Can Apply For George Municipality External Bursary?

** Current Grade 12 learners
** Those who completed Grade 12 in 2022 or 2023
** Previous George Municipality bursary recipients

How To Apply For George Municipality External Bursary?

George Municipality Bursary application forms can be obtained at the George/ Uniondale or Haarlem Municipal offices at the reception desk or from the George Municipality website on www.george.org.za address.

All bursary applications must be accompanied with the following:
a. Certified copy of identity document.
b. Original registration certificate indicating the course and subjects enrolled for.
c. Letter of acceptance from the educational institution.
d. A resume (maximum of 2 pages).
e. In respect of applications for continuation of studies, the previous year’s results must be submitted.
f. Proof of residence (Municipal account or any other relevant document).
g. Proof of grade 12 results or certified copies of last progress report.
h. Certified documentary proof of parents’ / guardians combined income with a ceiling of R350 000.00 per annum.
i. Statements outlining the monthly expenses of the applicant’s parents or guardian(s).
j. Applicants from indigent households will need to provide documentary proof of such status.

Electronic applications to be submitted to gmun [AT] george.gov.za. Applications can also be submitted at the Corporate Services Reception desk, Uniondale/ Haarlem offices.

Please Note:
** Joint annual household income should not exceed R350,000.00 threshold.
** Bursaries may cover ALL or PART of the total cost of studies.
** Bursaries must be applied for on an annual basis.
** Current bursary holders must re- apply for continuation and are also subject to the bursary conditions.
** Incomplete, late applications and applications not meeting the requirements, will not be considered.

Successful candidates will be expected to enter into a bursary agreement with the George Municipality.
