How To Checks Qualification at MIE Portal?
MIE conducts verifications of Matric, Grade 12 and Senior Certificates. Additionally, MIE checks tertiary qualifications including short courses, certificates, diplomas, degrees, honours, Doctorates and PhD’s directly with institutions, globally.

Southern African Tertiary qualifications from 27 universities (certificates, diplomas, degrees, honours, masters, Doctorates) are verified via the National Qualifications Register (NQR®). The NQR® greatly increases the speed and accuracy at which a verification of a qualification can be obtained.
Additionally, MIE sources tertiary qualification verifications from universities world-wide. MIE’s expertise has resulted in assisting clients globally in mitigating 50% of risk associated with global qualifications.
Matric Certificate Check:
Post 1992 Matrics:
South African Matric (Grade 12) and Senior Certificate qualifications are verified through Umalusi. MIE and Umalusi have entered into a formal agreement for verification of endorsed matric Senior Certificates (Grade 12). Of real value is the strict service level agreed for feedback on these matric Senior Certificates (Grade 12). MIE is integrated into the Umalusi backend systems to make the verifications process more efficient and timeous.
Pre 1992 Matrics:
Matric qualifications achieved before 1992 are verified at the various Provincial Departments of Education. Through extensive relationship building with these departments, MIE is able to verify Senior/Secondary certificates as well as archived certificates at agreed turn-around times.
How To Verify Membership?
MIE verifies an individual’s membership to professional organisations via the particular associations concerned. Through this service, memberships of professional organisations or institutions are verified via the particular organisation concerned.
Some of these professional organisations include:
** South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA)
** Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
** South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN)
** South African Nursing Council(SANC)
** Law Society of South Africa (LSSA)
Fit and Proper Compliance (FAIS):
Critical to the Financial and Insurance sector, MIE offers its clients Financial Regulatory Verifications that ensures a candidate is compliant with the relevant legislation.
This check establishes whether the candidate has been authorised by the Financial Sector Contact Authority (FSCA) to advise consumers on Financial or Insurance services as per the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act 2002 (Act no. 37 of 2002). In 2008, legislation changed the standard an adviser would have to achieve in order to be considered “fit and proper”.
The standard consisted of five elements, namely:
** Financial soundness
** Operational ability
** Honesty and integrity
** Competency and
** Continuous professional development (CPD)
The three critical elements contained in the competency category, are:
** Qualifications
** Experience and
** Regulatory exams (RE)
Representatives are allowed six-years from their DoFA to work under supervision whilst attaining the necessary knowledge, skills and experience. They are also obliged to write the regulatory exams within specific time frames, again determined by their DoFA.
What is National Qualifications Register (NQR)?
The NQR® allows for verification and checking of diplomas, degrees, honours, masters and Doctorates, PhD’s from 27 subscribing institutions in Southern Africa for instantaneous verification feedback.
Academic Transcripts:

Institution Accreditation:
MIE checks if the Academic Institution is accredited by the relevant governing body. This accreditation involves the process of vetting the tertiary institution who issued the individuals qualification. MIE can assist in verifying the institution against the relevant accredited bodies, to ensure the qualification is accurate and valid.
Matric Replacement Certificate:
In the unforeseen circumstance where a matric certificate has been misplaced or damaged, MIE can assist in applying for a matric replacement certificate from the Department of Basic Education, on behalf of a candidate.
