What is Gallagher Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship?

The Gallagher Foundation provides full undergraduate scholarships for university scholars chosen in three developing countries: Mexico at ITESM – Monterrey Campus, South Africa at the University of Cape Town and Turkey at Boğaziçi University. Candidates who receive the Gallagher Foundation Scholarship cannot receive additional scholarships. Scholars can receive Merit based awards, but should not receive funding from other scholarships.

Eligibility of Gallagher Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship

Gallagher Scholar candidates are citizens of South Africa who reflect academic achievement and evidence of leadership potential. Race, gender, and religion are not considered as factors in scholarship selection. Nine Candidates will be selected to interview with Gallagher Foundation representatives. Individuals selected as candidates for the Gallagher Scholarship meet the following criteria:

Values:
A Gallagher Scholar candidate shows evidence of a high level of ethical values, which include:
** Belief that progress can be achieved without violence
** Commitment to making a difference in their country
** Traits which align with the Gallagher Foundation Traits of Distinguished Leaders

Leadership Requirements:
Gallagher Scholar candidates display evidence of leadership potential in their involvement in leadership activities including, but not limited to:
** Special projects
** Awards received
** Extracurricular activities
** Service work

Financial Requirements:
Gallagher Scholar candidates come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds displaying evidence of financial need.

Academic Requirements :
Gallagher Scholar candidates possess and show evidence of unusual intelligence and ability:

1. Major of Choice:
** Architecture
** Business
** Education
** Engineering
** History
** Law
** Language
** Math
** Philosophy
** Political Science
** Psychology
** Science
** Medicine
** Technology

2. Admitted to UCT with final acceptance received

3. Academic excellence shown on the National Benchmark test in all competency areas
