How to get m-pesa :
** You can register for an m-pesa wallet by dialing *111# and following the instructions or by going to an m-pesa shop with your South African identity book.

What are the requirements to have an m-pesa wallet :
** You must be an active Vodacom subscriber.
** You must have a South African Identity book.
** You must be at the age of 16 or above.

How to activate your m-pesa account :
** Simply dial *111# on your cellphone.
** Select the m-pesa option to access the menu and follow the instructions.
** You will receive an activation in progress SMS with notification of a confirmation SMS to follow.
** You will receive an SMS welcoming you to m-pesa, advising you of the m-pesa terms and conditions.
** After receiving the welcome SMS, you must set your m-pesa PIN.

Set PIN – Set m-pesa PIN

** Dial *111# and select m-pesa
** You will be presented with a screen to acknowledge the m-pesa terms and conditions.

** Follow the instructions to set your m-pesa PIN.
** You will be presented with a confirmation screen and receive an SMS confirming the m-pesa PIN set and advising you of the m-pesa terms and conditions.

Pin security tips
** Your personal identification number (PIN) is your personal key to keeping your m-pesa account safe and secure.

Keep it secret :
** Never share your PIN with anyone
** Only enter your PIN when you are sure no one is looking. It’s best to do it where you feel safe
** Memorise your PIN and never write it down

** Don’t use an obvious PIN or one that is easy to guess (like your date of birth)
** Change your PIN often – this makes it difficult for others to guess your PIN or use it to access your account if they see you entering it

How to send money :
** To send money with m-pesa dial *111#
** Select m-pesa on the menu and enter your m-pesa PIN
** Select “Send money”
** Select “Enter recipient cell number” and then enter the cell number you want to send money to

** Enter the amount you want to send
** Select “Confirm” to complete transaction
** A confirmation SMS will be sent to you and the receiver
** You will also receive an update on your m-pesa wallet

How to deposit cash at an m-pesa shop :
** To deposit money into your m-pesa wallet at an m-pesa shop dial *111#
** Select m-pesa on the menu and enter your m-pesa PIN
** Select “Deposit in store”

** Your ONE TIME PIN will then be displayed and sent via SMS. Give this ONE TIME PIN and your money to the cashier
** You will receive a confirmation SMS for a successful transaction
** You will also receive an SMS with an update on your m-pesa wallet

How to deposit with an m-pesa voucher :
** To deposit money with an m-pesa voucher dial *111#
** Select m-pesa on the menu and enter your m-pesa PIN
** Select “Deposit with voucher”

** Enter the 12-digit voucher number
** You will receive a confirmation SMS for a successful transaction
