    Good afternoon

    The trailing e-mail bears reference.

I am not one to complain about bad service, but I also phoned yesterday and to date we have not been assisted in getting the contract downgraded.

MTN was the ones that promised that it wouldn’t be problematic to change to a lower contract because we don’t use the phones/contract in America, as soon as the contract had expired when we went to see you in December but the struggle is real as we are not getting help.

We are paying almost a thousand rand a month just to keep the same cellphone numbers which is a disgrace to say the least.

    Could your office please assist.

I phoned MTN customer care on 28 June 2023 to cancel an upgrade and the contract on the number where I only had a dongle. I had to phone the courier to cancel the upgrade and I did speak to the courier. I phoned MTN customer care on 5 July 2023 and was told I cannot cancel the contract with MTN customer line and must speak to Mondo, which is the MTN agent who contacted me as MTN iro the upgrade. Gentleman at Mondo advised that upgrade would be cancelled within 3 days. At the outset I wanted to cancel the upgrade and the contract with MTN as I have not used the dongle for many years and the fixed contract period has prescribed and contact was already on a monthly basis. Surprised on 3 August by yet another debit order going off I contacted MTN customer line on 3 August 2023 to enquire why another debit order was going off when I started the cancellation on 28 June 2023. I was told that only the upgrade was cancelled and not the contract. I am hysterical! I wanted the contract and the upgrade cancelled already on 28 June 2023. To add insult to injury I was told that cancellation notice is 30 days and a further debit order will go through beginning September 2023. This is ridiculous and theft by MTN and not acceptable. I stopped the bank debit order on 3 August 2023 but sure MTN would still try to bypass it. I googled how to lodge a complaint and it seems that MTN requires that one must follow an Issue Handling Procedure before I can lodge a complaint with MTN. Only after the 2 aforementioned processes have been followed can I refer the matter to the Ombud (ICASA). I tried to obtain more information on the Issue Handling Procedure by phoning MTN customer line. There are no menu options or even a general query option and eventually tried the cancelations option. The moment that I mention that I want to enquire about the process and mention the word “complaint”, then the call is ‘dropped’. MTN Head Office does not answer their phone. How on earth can one deal with MTN. I shouted, I cried. I don’t know anymore. The customer means nothing. Upgrades and new business is a breeze but cancellation is an absolute nightmare. My contract was with MTN and I should not have to be told to contact MTN’s subcontractors or agents to arrange cancellations. The call duration on 5 July 2023 was 40 minutes and 6 seconds at my costs. MTN should have been the only entity to contact and it should be MTN that had to ensure the contract and upgrade was properly cancelled. I am hugely upset and despise the manner in which this big corporate MTN treats a customer. I want the contract cancelled immediately as I am struggling to get it cancelled since 28 June 2023 and MTN is not entitled to a further debit order payment beginning September 2023 which is why I stopped the debit order!

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! I took out a contract with mtn direct and asked them to keep my old sim, so they would put it under contract. I never heard anything from them again. Instead they’ve rica barred my current sim and when I call in they keep sending me from department to department. It’s been a whole week without any connection!! I’ve laid complaints, but they’re not even responding to that.. Moving to another network ASAP!!

I recently paid my contract on mtn store because I knew that on the 1st of December I will have no money to pay it but on the 1st of December mtn debited my account when I called them for a refund I was given a reference number to follow up on the refund I called them on the 4th the told me that my money was put aside for the next debit without consulting me so mtn is the worst network ever because when it’s you owing or skipped a payment date 2 to 4 days they close your network with asking when will you be able to pay i want to close this account and take my business to TELEKOM I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MTN TO ANY ONE COURSE TO THEM ITS ALL ABOUT MAKING MONEY NOT ABOUT GOOD SERVICE NOT AT ALL THE HOLE 7 DAYS TO GET WHAT IS OWED TO ME Yoooo.
