Sanlam UCT Online High Scholarship
The Sanlam UCT Online High Scholarship programme is aimed at talented young people from historically disadvantaged families, who excel academically, but are unable to access high-quality education due to financial constraints. The programme aims to develop a diverse and transformed talent-pipeline of future skills that South Africa needs.

Application Requirements
1. Grade and age:
** The applicant must be completing Grade 7 in 2021
** The applicant must not be older than 13 years of age and not younger than 12 years of age in grade 7.
2. Historically disadvantaged:
The applicant must come from a historically disadvantaged South African family and be African, Coloured or Indian/Asian.
3. Academic performance:
The applicant must have obtained a minimum of 70% for Mathematics and 70% for English in their latest school report. Additionally, they must have obtained a minimum overall average of 70% in their latest school report.
4. Requiring financial assistance:
The applicant must demonstrate financial need and the inability to afford UCT Online High School tuition fees.
5. Nationality:
The applicant must be a South African citizen.
6. Potential to thrive at UCT Online High School:
Whilst Sanlam will cover 100% of the tuition fees, guardians will need to ensure that the applicant has:
** The desire to attend an online school
** Basic computer literacy skills that would enable them to access online education
** Access to adult supervision
** A safe space that is conducive for learning
** Access to a reliable, high-speed internet connection, with a minimum average speed of 10 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload
** A reliable laptop and headset
Application Process
Checklist of documents you will need to apply
All applicants:
Proof of household income – you will need to supply one of the following documents to verify your household income (from both guardians if relevant):
** Employment Contract
** Payslip (from within three months of application)
** A letter from your employer that indicates what you earn
** An IRP5 SARS tax form
** Proof of SASSA grant or other income
** Letter of recommendation from a current school leader
** A video of the learner responding to interview questions
Shortlisted Candidates Only:
** Term 2 report for grade 7
** Applicants birth certificate (abridged or unabridged will suffice)
** Final grade 7 report (only to be submitted at the end of the year)
1. Complete the online application form
In this stage of the application process, you will need to:
** Fill in an online form and accept our T and Cs and scholarship policy
** Upload proof of household income documents
** Upload a video interview
2. Complete the academic test
Having completed your application you will receive an email with login details to access an online Maths and English language test. Make sure you complete the test before the deadline!
3. Shortlisting:
After the academic tests, a pool of applicants will be shortlisted. Shortly after the test deadline, you will receive communication via email to inform you that:
** You have been successfully shortlisted and a conditional scholarships offer will be made
** You have been unsuccessful in your application
