Nikon Photo Contest

The Nikon Photo Contest nurtures an aspirational community that supports photographers and filmmakers who wish to share important stories and influence the way people think through images.

Entries from any digital cameras, including smartphones, will be accepted for all Nikon Photo Contest 2018-2019 categories.

Photo Contest Entry Period

** Thursday, October 18th, 2018 (opens at 1:00 p.m. Japan standard time) to Thursday, January 31st, 2019 (closes at 1:00 p.m. Japan standard time).

How to Enter Photo Contest

** Enter the contest by providing the required information in the entry form on official website.
** This form will become available on the first date entries are accepted (Thursday, October 18th, 2018).

Step 1 : Go to the Official website,click on the submit entry button.

Step 2 : Select the Language

New User Registration  :
Step 1 : New user registration is required to enter “Nikon Photo Contest 2018-2019.”

** To register, please first read the “Entry Guidelines” carefully, select the checkbox below, then click “Next.”
** To cancel the user registration process, click “Cancel.”

Step 2 : Enter an email address for new user registration, then click “Send.”

Photo Contest Eligibility

** The contest is open to all, professional and amateur, regardless of age, gender, or nationality.

** Entrants under 18 years of age require the permission of a parent or guardian.
** By entering the contest, entrants under 18 years of age indicate that they have obtained the permission of a parent or guardian.

** The contest is not open to employees of Nikon (the “organizer”) or its subsidiaries or affiliates.

Photo Contest Entry Categories

1.Open Award :
Theme: Change
Entry format: single photo, photo story (two to five images)
** Any equipment can be used.
** No age restrictions

2.Next Generation Award
Theme : Identity
Entry format : single photo, photo story (two to five images)
** Any equipment can be used.
** Entrants must be 25 years of age or younger as of the entry deadline.

3.Short Film Award
Theme: Hope
Entry format: video
** Any equipment can be used, but the video must be 6 to 180 seconds long.
** No age restrictions

Photo Contest Submission Rules

Photo Entries :
** Entry is limited to original works that have not formerly been displayed or exhibited and for which the entrant holds all applicable rights.
** The limit for submitted works is 10 photos, including those forming photo stories. Entries can be submitted in multiple categories if the total number of entries is within this limit.

Video Entries :
** Entry is limited to original works for which the entrant holds all applicable rights as a result of personally filming the video.
** Only one video may be submitted.

Photo Contest Submission Guidelines

Photo Entries :
** Image data files created with any device capable of taking still images, including smartphones and digital still cameras (including medium and large-format digital cameras).
** Images that have been retouched by using camera apps, photo editing apps, other software, etc. will be accepted.
** Both color and monochrome images will be accepted.

File size: up to 20 MB of image data per work
Image-data file format: JPEG/150 dpi recommended
** The standard color space for the judging process is sRGB

Video Entries :
** A video work consisting of video footage and/or still images with a length of 6 to 180 seconds.
** Any video-recording device may be used.
** 360° videos are restricted to edited works that do not rely on a 360° video playback device or application for viewing.
** File size: up to 400 MB of video data at the time of submission per work. File format: MOV or MP4.
** Any music used for the submitted work must not violate the copyrights or other rights of any third party.
