School Education Psychologists :
Requirements :
** MA in Educational Psychology or equivalent.
** Registration with the Health
Related : Department Of Basic Chief Education Specialist : www.southafricain.com/1204.html
** Professions Council South Africa (HPCSA) as an Educational Psychologist.
** Registration with the South African Council for Education (SACE) where applicable.
** Minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience after registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in respect of RSA qualified psychologist who performed Community Service as required in South Africa.
** Minimum of nine (9) years’ relevant experience after registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) respect of foreign qualified psychologists, of whom it is not required to perform Community Services, as required in South Africa.
** Knowledge of the education policy on Inclusive Education (White Paper 6) and South African Schools Act will be an added advantage.
** Knowledge of special schools and the support processes provided for learners in specialized settings will be an added advantage.
** Excellent English report writing, which extends into good communication skills in general.
** Competence in budgeting and spending, logical and independent thinking, with the ability to take imitative.
** The ability to manage, organize and drive projects.
** Facilitation and training skills.
** A valid driver’s license.
** Computer literacy
Duties :
** Establish and maintain a psycho-social support service at school level.
** Guide and assist schools in the screening, early identification, assessment and support of barriers to learning that emanate from intellectual, sensory, neurological and developmental impairment, psycho-social disturbances, socioeconomic deprivation etc.
** Ability to select and administer appropriate assessment instruments and procedures taking into account age developmental level, disabling conditions and educational placement.
** Facilitate, monitor and support the implementation of preventative and intervention learner support programmes at school level.
** Arrange and conduct in service training. Establish interdepartmental, community and private medical and paramedical support linkages at school level.
** Support schools as a member of the School Based and District –based Support Team.
** Implement National / Provincial policy on Inclusive Education at school level.
** Perform generic administrative and other functions. Conduct and lead outreach programmes.
