Two Audit Committee Members :

** In terms of Section 77 of the Public Financial Management Act (PFMA), the dti calls on all qualified and interested persons to serve as a member (two (2) vacancies) on the Audit Committee of the dti.

Requirements :
Relevant Qualifications- CIA / CISA / CA/ LLB/MBA / Economics
Professional Body – SAICA or admission as an Attorney or Advocate or Risk Management Profession.
** Previous Audit Committee experience, ( mainly in Public Sector) Relevant work experience; (Accounting; Internal Audit; Governance and Risk Management)
** The ideal candidate should preferably be from an Audit/Financial or related environment.

** Experience/knowledge of Trade and Economic issues will be an advantage.
** Preference will be given to candidates
** who are currently working and residing in Gauteng.
** Applicants must have the best interest of the dti at heart.
** For this specific vacancy, candidates should have expertise in the functions of the dti and have Manufacturing/ Business/ Economics /Legal /Financial and / or IT qualifications.

They must possess the following qualities :
** Independence and Integrity; Dedication of time and energy; Understanding of National Government; Good Communication Skills; Analytical Reasoning Abilities; Natural Curiosity; A measure of Healthy Scepticism.

Duties:
** Understand the major areas of risk and monitor whether these areas are being addressed by the dti management.
** Assist the dti management in carrying out its responsibilities as they relate to Departments’.
** Safeguarding of assets;

** Financial, Management and other Reporting Practices;
** Efficiency and effectiveness of operations;
** Achievement of objectives;
** Internal controls and management of risks; and
** Compliance with laws, regulations and ethics.

Remuneration :
** The compensation of members of the Audit Committee is determined at an hourly tariff based on SAICA / AG tariffs per annum.
** There are typically four meetings held per financial year.

Terms of office :
** The term of office of members of the Audit Committee is three (3) years after which the Minister and the Accounting Officer will review this for renewal of a further three (3) years.
** As per the Audit Committee Charter membership is allowed to be extended for a 2nd term only.
