SAPS Service Complaints Centre

SAPS Service Complaint Centre to investigate poor service :
** The SAPS Service Complaints Centre, which forms part of the Component: Management Intervention Analysis Centre and Service Complaints, is in place to help the community to receive optimal service delivery and reduce complaints against the police.

** The aim of the process is to redress and investigate a dissatisfaction or disappointment experienced by any person or an organisation, locally, regionally, continentally, or internationally, in relation to an action or inaction regarding the service that was rendered or supposed to be rendered by the SAPS represented by its employee(s).

** Besides for complaints to be dealt with on an individual basis, an aggregation of all complaints is also done with a view to identify trends through analysis, of which the findings are then utilised to inform management to effect corrective action.

** Complaints can vary from poor service delivery regarding communication, response, investigations, police negligence, police misconduct and complaints against the SAPS Management or members and general complaints.

How To Lodge a Complaint?

** For easy referral when reporting a complaint, the “Minimum complaint information” required includes, but is not limited to –

** Full names and surname of the complainant; Identity number, residential/business address, telephone and cell phone numbers and email address.

** Also provide a description of the complaint including the province in which the complaint originated the name of the police station, the case number (if applicable), details of the SAPS employees involved, etc.

    Attention Col De Wet

    I would like to lodge a complain the following cases CAS432&433/12/2015 reported at Strand Police Station in December 2015.

    Our daughters were abused by one man by the name Paulos Kadewela who happened to be a friend we were sharing accommodation with in good faith for a period of over 5 years.

    Our eldest daughter only managed to disclose the horrible ordeal she was going through when she discovered that she couldn’t take it anymore.

    We reported the case and the suspect was arrested put in custody and 2 weeks later he was given bail, even though we advised the court that the guy was a light risk.

    When the date of the trial was set sometimes in March or April 2015, the suspect disappeared.
    We were given assurance by Officer Arries who was the investigating officer at that time that he was going to pursue the suspect and arrest him.

    Since then we never heard any communication from neither Officer Arries or his office.

    Early January 2020 I received communication from my colleagues and relative in Harare, Zimbabwe that the guy was seen several times times witnesses told me that he was staying at his mother’s place in a township called Mabvuku in Harare.

    I then visited Strand Police Station and spoke to a detective who informed me that according records the cases were filed meaning no investigations were happening further.
    I was advised to contact CFC office in Khayalitsha which I did and spoke to  Captain Nash.

    Captain Nash asked me to furnish him with all the details so that he could look into the case then get back to me, which I did. He asked me to send all the details through a whatsapp message, unfortunately he did not even acknowledged that he has received the information neither did he update me o his findings.

    I tried again to call him to get an update but to no avail. I then went back to Strand Police Station and was assisted by one Colonel who contacted Captain Nash and Captain Nash said he was waiting for the dockets which were at Strand Police Station to be sent to Khayalitsha.

    I then advised my sister in Harare to report the matter to the local police station which did but was told that they need SAPS to contact them through Interpol and give them a go ahead to make an arrest.

    On the 11th of September my friend in Harare came across the suspect and he immediately contacted me. I then contacted Captain Nash and asked him if we can give them a go ahead to do a citizen arrest then hand over the suspect to local police in Harare who can then repatriate the the suspect but Captain Nash said they is nothing we can do he is still waiting for Interpol.

    We have been let down as a family and the justice system has failed us dismally
