Who Or What Is An Indegent
** The term ‘indigent’ means ‘lacking the necessities of life’. The following goods and services are considered as necessities for an indigent or an impoverished person or persons to survive:
** Sufficient water, Basic sanitation, Refuse removal in denser settlements, Basic electricity,Health care, Housing, Food and clothing Any person or household who does not have access to these goods and services is considered indigent.
Who Is Entitled To Access Free Basic Services?
** YOU must be a South African citizen with a valid RSA IDENTITY DOCUMENT or any other acceptable form of identification.
** YOU must be RESIDING in an INFORMAL TOWNSHIP or a HOUSE
** If YOU reside in an informal settlement, YOU should qualify for Free Basic Services.
** YOU must prove that YOU cannot afford to pay for piped water, sanitation, electricity, refuse removal and property rates.
** If YOU are unemployed and not receiving any form of income, YOU will be required to provide a UIF card (UI-19), letter from your last employer, and bank statement.
** If YOU are living in a child headed household (i.e. where both biological parents died), YOU should be regarded as indigent.
** If YOU live in a household without any access to Free Basic Services, YOU and all others in the household should be regarded as indigent.
Indigent Application
Application To Be Registered As Indigent :
1. The application should be completed by a person responsible for the payment of the account
2. The household’s joint income should be less than two (2) state pensions.
3. Copies of Municipal. accounts, identi?cation documents, pension certi?cates where applicable and proof of income must be attached to the application form.
4. Attached documents not be older than 3 months during the date of application.
5. The applicant or stand owner must be residing personally on the property.
6. If unemployed an af?davit from the Commissioner of Oath must be attached to the application form
Applying For A Grave
To be able to bury at a graveyard, you should come to the municipality office submit the following :
** ID Copy of the Deceased
** Death Certificate
Application Fee : R152
** Download a indigent form, and submit this form to your ward-councilor to submit it to the municipality
** It is a fraud when you try to apply for being an indigent when you know you don’t qualify according to the points stated above, or as indicated on the INDIGENT Form
