UFS Apply For Admission
Application To Study In 2019 :
Become A UFS Student In Eight Steps :
1. Apply online or in hard copy (written).
Related / Similar Service :
2. Your application form will be captured. You will receive a student number.
3. You will receive a conditional offer for non-selection programmes if you meet all the admission requirements. Selection programmes are excluded.
4. If you have applied for campus residence, you will now receive correspondence from Housing and Residence Affairs.
5. If you are accepted when the final Grade 12 results are released, you will receive communication regarding your admission.
6. Five (5) days prior to registration in early 2019, you have to make a prepayment. Use your student number as a reference number.
7. Register early 2019.
8. Collect your study material and timetable after registration.

** Go to .ufs.ac.za. Follow the link apply.ufs.ac.za/ – online application. Proceed through all eight easy steps and submit your electronic application.
Upload copies of the following in PDF or JPEG format when you apply for undergraduate studies :
** Your ID or passport
** Your Grade 11 final results with the school’s stamp
** Your academic record only if you are a current student at another institution of higher learning
** Grade 12 June results, with the school’s stamp as soon as they are available must be emailed to studentadmin AT ufs.ac.za, especially if you have applied for a selection programme.
** USAf accreditation is the examination board for South African universities. Apply to mb.usaf.ac.za for conditional exemption, foreign conditional exemption, or mature age conditional exemption.

Complete and sign the application, and mail it with all the relevant certified documentation to: The Application Office, PO Box 339, Bloemfontein 9300.
Remember to include copies of :

Information For All Students
** All information in the Prospectus is subject to change without prior notification.
Closing dates: Your application for admission MUST be captured before you register in 2019. Keep in mind that all programmes have limited spaces available, and therefore you are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. When we process your application for admission, we capture your details onto the UFS databases – if your details are not available, you will not be admitted or be able to register. For this reason, it is very important to stick to the closing dates.
National Senior Certificate: If you already have a National Senior Certificate (NSC), you must include a copy with your application form.
Application :
** Make sure that you complete the application properly, and attach all the required documents. Gaps in the application, as well as outstanding documents, will delay your application process.
Transferring students: If you transfer from another tertiary institution, you must include a certificate of conduct and an official study record from the previous tertiary institution with your application, AND submit copies when you register. The closing date for students transferring from other tertiary institutions is 30 September 2018.
International students: If you are from another country, you must attach your certified school leaving certificate, diplomas, and proof of a conditional exemption certificate issued by the Matriculation Board to your application. Apply to mb.usaf.ac.za for the conditional exemption. The closing date for international students is 31 August 2018.
** All Health Sciences applications must be accompanied by a completed medical certificate and principal’s signature. Forms available at ufs.ac.za
Admission Requirements
Admission Requirements For Undergraduate Studies :
** There are specific matric exemption requirements that you must meet if you want to study at any South African university. If you
** completed school in or after 2008, and have a National Senior Certificate (NSC), you need the following to apply for admission to a
** Bachelor’s degree at any South African university:
Four (4) of the seven (7) subjects included in your NSC subject package must be from the designated subjects listed below, with a minimum mark of 4 (50%) in each of these four (4) subjects :

** Agricultural Sciences – Life Sciences (Biology/Physiology)
** Business Studies – Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
** Consumer Studies – Music
** Dramatic Arts – Three languages (one of these must be the language of teaching and learning at a higher-education Economics institution and two other recognised language subjects) Engineering Graphics and Design
** Geography – Physical Sciences/Natural Sciences
** History – Religion Studies / Visual Arts
What Do You Need To Study At The University Of The Free State?
** You have a NSC or NCV with an endorsement that allows entrance to degree studies (Bachelor’s degree) or an equivalent qualification.
** You have a minimum level of 4 (50%) in the chosen UFS language of instruction: English or Afrikaans (only applicable to certain programmes).
** You meet all the minimum admission requirements for the programme you intend to study.
** You must pass certain school subjects with a minimum level of achievement in order to take a certain university module. For example, you must get a mark of 70% for Mathematics in Grade 12 if you plan to study BSc majoring in Physics with Engineering subjects.
** You will be conditionally admitted based on your Grade 11 or equivalent results, subject to you meeting all the minimum requirements for the intended programme of study. Your final admission to the programme of choice will depend on your final Grade 12 results.
** You will be notified immediately of the university’s final admission decision after your Grade 12 results have been released by the Department of Education.
Information For International Students
Administration fee :

Closing date :
** Closing date for applications to undergraduate studies is 31 August 2018.
Visa :
** You must have a VALID study visa before you can enter South Africa. Make sure your study visa is issued to study at the UFS, and not at any other institution in South Africa. You must have a valid and appropriate/correct visa to be registered at the UFS.
Medical aid :
** You must be a member of a medical aid registered in terms of the Medical Aid Schemes Act 1998 of South Africa, as required by the South African Immigration Act. It is important that your medical aid cover MUST be valid for the duration of your studies at the UFS. No travel insurance, hospital plans or foreign medical aids will be accepted.
Prepayment :

Scholarships/Bursaries/Sponsorships:
