Fasset Bursary Scheme :

Qualifying Students :
The University of Pretoria Fasset Bursary Scheme will provide substantial support in respect of tuition fees, textbooks, accommodation, meals and living expenses along with a mentorship programme, skills interventions and additional academic support to 70 South African Black students registered for :

** 2nd or 3rd year BCom Accounting Sciences and/or
** 2nd or 3rd year BCom Financial Sciences and/or
** 2nd or 3rd year BCom Economics and/or
** Post Graduate diploma in Accounting Sciences (CTA)

** In order to qualify the total combined household income of applicants need to be between R123,000 and R350,000.
** Students with an annual household income below R123,000 do not qualify for FASSET and should apply via NSFAS if they have not already done so.

** Applications are invited from qualifying students who have been admitted for 2017 studies at the University of Pretoria.

** Applicants who already have another bursary or scholarship will not be considered for the Fasset Bursary Scheme.
** Applicants who have another partial bursary/sponsorship from a third party may still apply but will have to disclose the full details of other sponsorships in this application.

How does the process work?
1) Qualifying students to apply using this online form by 12h00 Friday, 20 January 2017.

2) UP Fasset Bursary Scheme management will evaluate applications and select candidates enrolled for the relevant years of study based on
i) qualifying criteria for household income
ii) academic performance
iii) student motivation included in this application
iv) as well as other criteria deemed appropriate by Fasset and the bursary management team.
v) You may possibly be approached for a further interview/telephonic discussion.

3) Successful applicants will be informed how and where to submit the following documents. Please get this ready!
3.1) Proof of household income
3.2) Copy of ID
3.3) Copy of 2017 housing arrangements/rental agreements
3.4) Copy of any other sponsorship agreements

3.5) Affidavit confirming:
i) the amount of other sponsorship/that there are no other sponsors and/or
ii) monthly rental of existing housing arrangements.
3.6) Signed original student agreement (to be provided to successful candidates)

4) Final vetting and data integrity checks will be performed. Should students fail the vetting/data integrity checks, their application will be disqualified.

5) Final acceptance letters will be issued to successful candidates who have passed the vetting and data integrity tests.

** Consent to collect personal information
** The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI) aims to give effect to the constitutional right to privacy by balancing the right to privacy against that of access to information.

** POPI requires that personal information pertaining to individuals be processed lawfully and in a reasonable manner that does not infringe on the right to privacy.

** The personal information required relates to names and surnames, birth dates, identity numbers, passport numbers, demographic information, education information, occupation information, health information, addresses, memberships, personal motivations and intent, personal and work email and contact details, and university academic results.

The personal information will be used by Fasset for the purposes of :
** reporting Fasset initiatives to the Department of Higher Education and Training;
** reporting to National Treasury all contracts awarded ;

** obtaining information related to Tax Clearance Certificates from SARS;
** Verifying information on the National Treasury database of defaulters;
** evaluating and processing applications for registration on the database;

** compiling statistics and other research reports;
** providing personalised communications;
** complying with the law; and/or
** for a purpose that is ancillary to the above.

** The personal information may also be used by the University of Pretoria for the purpose of conducting research, provided that informed consent letters are obtained from subjects before such use.
