Requirements For NYS Programme
** Youth of between 18 and 35 years of age
** 60% should be females
** 40% Males
** At least 1% should be disabled
** At least 85% should be from previously disadvantaged background
** Should have passed Grade 12 and above
** Should have a valid South African Identity Document
** Should be available for the duration of the project and prepared to sign a contract
** Should have interest in the Construction sector, IT and Administration, or any other sector they might be assigned to
** Should reside closer to the project and have a valid proof of residence
** No criminal records
** Application forms will be available at all DID Regional Offices and must be submitted to specific regional offices.
** Successful candidates will receive the stipend of R2 200 per month for 12 months.

Functions of GDID
The Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development (GDID)’s mandate includes the following key functions:
Infrastructure planning and development:
The department is responsible for identifying and prioritizing infrastructure needs in Gauteng, developing infrastructure plans and strategies, and coordinating the implementation of infrastructure projects across various sectors.
Project management and procurement:
The GDID manages the procurement and delivery of infrastructure projects, including contract management, procurement processes, and project management services, to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Asset management and maintenance:
The department is responsible for the management and maintenance of government-owned buildings and infrastructure assets in Gauteng, including routine maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to ensure that the assets are kept in good condition and can provide optimal service to the public.
Infrastructure policy and regulation:
The GDID develops and implements policies, regulations, and standards for infrastructure development and management in Gauteng, in collaboration with other government departments, municipalities, and stakeholders.
Transformation and empowerment:
The department is committed to promoting economic transformation, job creation, and empowerment through its infrastructure projects, including promoting the participation of previously disadvantaged individuals and businesses in the construction and maintenance of public infrastructure.
Monitoring and evaluation:
The GDID conducts monitoring and evaluation of infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with policies, standards, and regulations, and to assess the impact and effectiveness of infrastructure investments in Gauteng.
