FirstRand Laurie Dippenaar Scholarship :
** The prestigious FirstRand Laurie Dippenaar scholarship for postgraduate international study to the value of R750 000 per annum is available to south african citizens for study outside south africa in any discipline at an international university of their choice – excellence is the only criteria for selection.

** All applications, including all the attachments and reference letters, must be completed online.
** Applications must reach us by Thursday 23 February 2017 to be eligible for consideration.
** Confirmation of each received application will be emailed to the applicant upon receipt of his or her application.
** Applications open Friday 16 December 2016 and close Thursday 23 February 2017.
** No late applications will be accepted.

** What makes this scholarship different from most is not only the personal interest which Laurie Dippenaar, chairman of FirstRand, takes in the selection process, but also his interest in the ongoing progress of the recipient.
** Shortlisted candidates will be notified by April 2017and should be available for final interviews to be held in Sandton 0n 25 April 2017.
** A final announcement will be made before the end of May 2017.
** Scholarship criteria are set out below.
** The successful candidate is required to return to South Africa for at least five years after completing his or her studies as stipulated by SARS.
Scholarship Process :
The following factors are taken into account in the awarding of the scholarship :
** academic excellence;
** leadership ability;
** community involvement; and
** potential to be a destiny changer
** Preference is given to applicants under the age of 35 and this has to be for first-time overseas study.
** Applicants should have applied to and been conditionally accepted by their university of choice for the postgraduate course they wish to pursue by April 2017.
** Applications will be treated in the strictest confidence.
** The decision of the adjudication panel is final and correspondence regarding their decision will not be entered into.
** The panel reserves the right not to make an award.
