What is VWGA Bursary?
VWGA Bursary is for 2025 Full-time University Students. Anyone who applied in 2024 for the bursary, will need to apply again for the 2025 opportunity. VWGA will be offering a limited number of comprehensive bursaries to qualifying candidates, studying towards a qualification at a formal accredited tertiary institution in South Africa. Applications are currently open. Closing date is Monday, 30th September 2024.

Who Can Apply For VWGA Bursary?
The bursary programme will be aimed at candidates who meet the following criteria:
1. All students registered for full-time studies at any DHET/CHE accredited tertiary Institution, in 2025.
2. This opportunity is not open to Masters/Doctoral students.
3. South African Citizen
4. Students registering/registered as 2025 full time undergrad students may apply in the following fields of study:
** Mechatronics;
** Mechanical Engineering;
** Electrical Engineering;
** Industrial Engineering;
** Information Technology;
** Software Development / Computer Science;
** Data Sciences;
5. Academic performance:
** Grade 12: Bachelor’s Pass with a minimum average of 70%
** Tertiary level: A minimum average of 65%
6. Depending on application stage, candidates may be required to undergo screening, shortlisting, interview, and psychometric assessments.
7. Preference will be given to applicants from Designated Groups, in line with VWGA’s Transformation objectives and Employment Equity Plan.

** Bursary allocation year for application type: 2025 VWGA Bursary (Full-time Students) will be allocated for the 2025 academic year
** This Bursary is for the 2025 academic year. You need to be studying full-time in 2025 to qualify.
** Should you not have heard back from us by 31 October 2024, please consider your application as unsuccessful

All Applicants:
** Certified copy of a valid South African identity document
** A 1-2 page statement – Motivation for why you should be selected for this bursary
** Recent certified Parents/Guardian SA ID or Death Certificate [*]
** A comprehensive CV of work experience and background
Undergrad Student (in 2024 & prior):
** Certified Full Tertiary Academic Records (for all years of tertiary study, even if at multiple institutions) [*] [or police affidavit stating why you were not schooling]
** Certified copy of latest/June 2024 Official Academic Transcripts (or official institution report) [or police affidavit stating why you were not schooling]
** Certified copy of valid matric certificate (Grade 12)
** 2024 Official University Fee Statements- If you have off-campus accommodation, please include your lease agreement [*]
** Certified Copy of 2024 Proof of Registration (if studying in 2024) [or police affidavit stating why you were not schooling]
Scholar in Matric:
** Certified Grade 11 Report final year-end report (with official school stamp)
** Certified Grade 12 Term 2 Report (with official school stamp)
** A copy of 2025 acceptance letter from an accredited institution. – Official letter showing were accepted (even provisionally) to study the qualification in 2025 [*]
Gap Year Student:
** Certified copy of valid matric certificate (Grade 12)
** If applicable- Certified copy of the latest Official academic transcript/s [*] [or police affidavit stating why you were not schooling]
Other Optional Documents (for all applicants):
** If Applicable- Did you get funded by another bursary/NSFAS?; upload your bursary agreement/letter/offer [*]
** If Applicable- If Applicant is disabled? Submit Dept. of Labour Employment Equity Act (EEA1) Form AND a Diagnosis Letter by Doctor [*]
** If Applicable- A copy of 2025 acceptance letter from an accredited institution. – Official letter showing were been accepted (even provisionally) to study the qualification in 2025 [*]
If Applicants are Shortlisted to Provisional-Acceptance:
** Certified copy of valid matric certificate (Grade 12)
** 2025 Proof of Registration at institution (NB: The bursary will only be awarded after you have registered, so please make sure you have the funds to register at the beginning of the year. This will be 1 of the conditions of your provisional acceptance)
Note:
For applicants under the age of 18, to comply with POPI regulations a signed consent form completed by your parent/legal guardian along with a certified copy of their proof of identity is required.
