Applications for the current academic year are opened. The online merit bursaries portal for 2024 is active and available to all currently registered students for this academic year on the above-mentioned date. Merit bursaries will be granted based on final Grade 12 results. To calculate your Admission Point Score (APS) from your equivalent final Grade 12 results. All other merit bursaries will automatically be allocated to your student account.

Who Can Apply For University of Johannesburg Internal Bursaries?
M&D Merit Bursary:
Available to Master’s and PhD students who obtained >70% in their previous qualification. (Terms and conditions apply) Academic record + grading system from previous institution to be uploaded and interpretation of results (if applicable) Supervisors approval required for students from Y2 MT Sefike Quality assurance stamped!!!
Leadership Awards Bursary:
Awarded to first year students who held leadership position at high school level A once-off amount of R1650 is awarded. The Letter from the school to be uploaded stamped/signed by the School/College Principal confirming the position of President, Vice-President, Secretary or Treasurer.
Multiple Degrees Bursary:
Undergraduate students registered for more than one formal qualification at UJ may apply. Documents required: Academic Record reflecting enrollment to multiple formal qualifications. MT Sefike Quality assurance stamped!!!!
Undergraduate Merit Bursary:
Applications to open at the End of September, once the automated merit system has been run. Available to students who started off on the Extended Program. (Y2-Y4). Documents for upload: International Students/SADC: Matric equivalent results. *South African students*: Matric results. MT Sefike Quality assurance stamped!!!

APS Rules to be implemented:
In order to determine the Admission Point Score (APS) the following principles need to be taken into consideration:
** Applicants with the following results, WAEC, Diplome or Exam D’Etat Certificado de Habilitscoes Literarias, Ensino Medio and Baccalaureat should be linked with the Ordinary Level (O) Grades on UJs Student database.
** Applicants with the following results, HIGCSE, NSSC (HL), AS Level, lB (SL) and KCSE should be linked to the South African NSC (N) Grades on UJ’s Student database.
** Applicants who have set for either A Level or IB (HL) should be linked to the (A) Grades on UJ’s Student database.
