What is Hortgro’s Undergraduate Bursary?
Hortgro’s undergraduate bursary programme currently has 16 students enrolled in various agricultural qualifications at different institutions across South Africa, including Stellenbosch University, Northwest University, University of the Free State, Potchefstroom College of Agriculture and Elsenburg Agricultural Training Institute. Most of these students hail from previously disadvantaged groups with 75% of our students being young women. Bursary applications for 2025 funding are open from 15 May 2024 and close on 15 August 2024.

Who is Hortgro?
Hortgro is the knowledge partner and service organisation of the South African deciduous fruit industry. We boast an annual turnover of R11.43 billion of which the export value accounts for 70% of the turnover. Hortgro annually services 1152 deciduous fruit producers, with 45% of total pome and stone fruits being exported. We generate research and technology, market intelligence, facilitate trade and international consumer campaigns. All production principles follow strict protocols and regulations.
