NRF Professional Development Programme (PDP) Scholarship :
** The PDP supports the hosting of PhD students and Post-doctoral fellows at research institutions through funding from the National Research Foundation (NRF).

** The value of the PDP Doctoral bursary is R180 000.00 per annum for each Masters graduate (Doctoral candidate) over a three year period and this will be tax free.
** The value of the PDP Post-doctoral fellowship is R350 000.00 per annum for each Doctoral graduate (Post-doctoral fellow) over a three year period and this will be taxable.
** Necsa will contribute towards training costs, travel costs, running expenses, infrastructure, supervision and mentorship of the PDP candidates.
Necsa has seven doctoral scholarship and two post-doctoral fellowship positions available within the following projects :
** Coal washability prediction from 3D tomographic data of drill cores.*
** Evaluation of Tb-161 PSMA as a possible prostate cancer therapy.*
** Design, construction and commissioning of a Raman cell for impurity analysis of F2 gas.
** Development of advanced PF6 ion based battery electolytes.
** C-14 Radiolabelling as a screening method for drugs under development.
** Design optimisation of a 15 kW plasma torch and determining the scaling parameters for upscaling.
** CFD modelling of plasma equipment for a plasma waste to energy research facility.

Minimum Requirements :
** MSc degree for doctoral scholarships.
** PhD degree for post-doctoral fellowships
** Previous research exposure in related fields (of the project for which is applied) will be a recommendation
Preference will be given to those who :
** Excel academically or show potential
** Have the ability to work in a team
** Can assist in building a high performance culture
