SAICA Thuthuka Bursary Fund

Established in 2005 by South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), the Thuthuka Bursary assists disadvantaged African and coloured students who want to study to become CAs(SA).

Objective

A bursary fund like none other, Thuthuka’s model covers more than just tuition, books, meals, residence fees and accommodation. The programme follows an integrated and holistic approach to ensure success, and students are also provided with “wrap around” support including

** Academic support, including various academic enrichment programmes such as additional tutorials, study skills workshops and more
** Social and emotional support
** Work-readiness and life skills training

** Mentoring and counselling
** Access to dedicated programme manager exposure to experienced chartered accountants and business leaders as mentors

This model makes Thuthuka students more successful than their counterparts. It is also this approach that makes Thuthuka students ready to face the challenges of the workplace.

Eligibility

You qualify to apply to join the Thuthuka programme if you
** are a South African citizen
** are Black African or Coloured

** are either in Grade 12, have been out of school (with Matric) for no more than two years or are a university student studying a CA-stream BCom degree

** have obtained at least 60% (5 or above on the NSC scale of achievement) in Mathematics in Grade 11 (Maths Literacy and Technical Maths learners are NOT considered)

** have applied (or are in the process of applying) for a BCom Accounting (CA-stream) degree at a SAICA-accredited university offering the Thuthuka programme.

Step 2 : Read the instructions carefully before you are applying.
Step 3 : Next, click on the “Apply to the Thuthuka Bursary Fund” button.
Step 4 : Fill the Application Form with the required details.
Step 5 : Finally click on the “Submit” button to complete your application.

Important To Note

This document is an application only. It is not in any way an agreement or commitment for funding.

Successful applicants will be required to sign a contract with both Thuthuka Education and Upliftment Fund (TEUF) and National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) for the purpose of being awarded a bursary.

Thuthuka Bursary cannot be used to pay for existing loans or debts. The funding application is for the 2022 academic year.

Applicants will be considered according to academic performance, National Benchmark Test (NBT) results and financial need as determined by the NSFAS financial means test.

** The consent form is not signed or
** All required documents are not uploaded.

** Copies of ID documents of persons dependent on family income
** Final Grade 11 results
** Final Grade 12 results (if completed Grade 12)
** Full university transcript (if already at University)
** University provisional acceptance letter (if you are still in high school).
