African Youth Japan Scholarship :
Programme outline :
** “This programme aims at fostering excellent personnel who can contribute to Africa’s industrial development in partnership with the Japanese private sector by strengthening economic ties between the two countries, while acquiring individual professional skills and knowledge.”

** At the 5th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD V) held in Yokohama in 2013, the Japanese Government stated its policy of strengthening support for the on-going dynamic growth of Africa with stronger public-private partnerships.
** Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo ABE announced the “ABE Initiative” or “African Business Education Initiative for Youth”, a strategic five-year plan providing 1,000 youths in Africa with opportunities to study at Japanese universities as well as do internships at Japanese enterprises to foster Africa’s sustainable and sound industrial development.
** ABE Initiative Master’s and Internship Program in South Africa forms the main part of the Initiative.
Degree level :
** Master’s degree and internship programme in Japan.
Deadlines :
** Application opened on 10 August 2016 and deadline is 26 October 2016.
** No late applications will be accepted.
Who can apply :
** South African citizens
** Aged between 22 and 39 years old
** Hold a Bachelor’s degree with honours (B-Tech included) and a minimum average of 65%
** Adequate English skills in both written and oral communication
** Understand the programme objectives and motivated to contribute to strengthening the economic relationship between Japan and South Africa
Fields of Study :
** Application in any field of study for about 150 master’s course at about 75 Japanese universities will be accepted.
** Priority will be given to applicants applying in the following fields of study
